People + Planet

We care deeply about the way our garments are produced. We want to make sure that as a business we don’t impact negatively on the environment or supply chain workers.

We strive to make thoughtful, informed and low-impact decisions about every facet of business operations. Below is a list of some of the choices we’ve made in order to reduce our negative impact on people and planet, and increase our positive impact:

At the core of our business is a desire to bring happiness and positivity not only to the children who wear our garments, but to every person involved in bringing our product into being. From the cotton farmer to the garment factory worker, we know everybody deserves a living wage and safe working conditions. That's why we choose a factory regularly audited by Sedex.

We choose GOTS certified organic cotton. Organic farming doesn’t degrade soil and water through the use of pesticides, thereby eliminating health risks to cotton farmers and marine life.

Packaging and Labelling

Our swing tags and stickers are printed on 100% recycled paper using vegetable based inks.

We limit packaging to only what is necessary to ensure the safe arrival of your garments via post. We wrap your order in high quality brown paper, and we recommend placing your Australia Post bag into the plastics recycling bin, or into the soft plastics recycling bin at your local Australian supermarket.

Giving Back

Not just a playful logo, Little Emperor cares deeply about our oceans and the marine life within. We choose to make an annual donation equalling 1% of sales to the Australian Marine Conservation Society. AMCS is an independent charity tackling the big issues threatening our oceans such as plastic marine debris, overfishing, and inappropriate industrial development in the Great Barrier Reef.

We think carefully about everything we put in the bin. The biggest waste product from the garment construction process is fabric off cuts. In an effort to eliminate our contribution to landfill, we retain our cotton fabric off cuts, and sew them together to make blankets. Other suggestions are very welcome!

We choose to partner with other environmentally responsible businesses. Our energy provider for our Sydney based design office is Red Energy, a renewable energy provider owned by Snowy Hydro. We bank with Bank Australia (formerly bankmecu), a customer owned bank based in Victoria that doesn’t invest in fossil fuel industries.

This is not a paid endorsement.

Little Emperor is always open to learning about new ways to improve our environmental footprint. If you know a way that we can improve our impact on the environment, we’d love to hear from you!
